Fall 2009-2010 Team Tryouts
Please check back for any updates as the summer progresses.Updated July 18, 2009 *All prospective student-athletes must have a current physical in order to try out for a team. Physicals are good for one calendar year. Physicals can be brought to the coach on the 1st day of tryouts. Tryouts begin on the following days for each team: Cross Country: Monday, August 3 - 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM - RCHS Patio (Coach Rakowski m2j1r0@hotmail.com) Volleyball: Monday, August 3 - 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM - Halifax Community Center (Coach Badillo eb8volleyball@yahoo.com) Men's Soccer: Monday, August 3 - 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM - Halifax Field See below for more Soccer info (Coach Day sday@raleighcharterhs.org) Women's Tennis: Monday, August 3 - 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM - Peace College (Coach Phillips michaelsphillips@earthlink.net) Crew: Unfortunately, we have had to discontinue crew as a sport at Raleigh Charter High School. For those students who have an interest in this sport, please contact Coach Christine Shaffer at christineshaffer@hotmail.com to learn more about independent rowing opportunities in our area. Thank you. Conference Info The North Carolina High School Athletic Association goes through a realignment process throughout the state for all member schools every four years. Beginning in Fall 2009, Raleigh Charter will be a member of the Carolina 9 1A/2A Conference in the NCHSAA. This conference consists of Durham School of Arts, North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, River Mill Academy, Granville Central, South Granville, Carrboro, Cedar Ridge, and Northwood High Schools. We look forward to competing against some familiar opponents and creating new friendly rivalries over the next four years in the Carolina 9. Athletics Fees Athletics fees for the 2009-10 school year are as follows: First sport: $150 Second/third sport: $120 If your family is in need of partial or complete financial assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Steve Efird, Athletic Director. Boys interested in playing soccer are invited to participate in summer workouts. The workouts are not mandatory for prospective players. However, these workouts will be beneficial for maintaining and improving a player's endurance, strength, and skill in preparation for soccer tryouts. The workouts will be at Halifax Field, which is attached to Halifax Community Center, right next to RCHS.Soccer Workout dates: Friday, July 24 8-10:00 AM Monday, July 27 6:30-8 PM Wednesday, July 29 8-10:00 AM Friday, July 31 6:30-8 PM Official soccer tryouts will be on August 3 and 4, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Halifax Field. If you are interested in trying out, but cannot make these dates, please notify Coach Day as soon as possible.
